The small town of Millau, France is home to the most prestigious glove making in the world. Over centuries their sublime quality and elegant designs have crowned them the King of Glove making. Founded in 1892 by Paul Causse and his brothers Jules and Henri, the House of Causse steadily acquired an elite status in the eyes of the highest couturiers and most luxurious fashion houses, due to their unique gift and knowledge. In 2007, the first Causse boutique opened its doors at 12 rue de Castiglione in Paris, just steps away from the stylish Place Vendôme and in the heart of the traditional artisans' quarter, where the most distinguished jewelers, tailors, boot makers and glove-makers of luxury craftsmanship flourish. The trendy boutique was designed by architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte, who also built the modern wood and glass factory in Millau. Each year 25,000 pairs of gloves are made by a group of about thirty of the highest quality craftsmen and women. Since 2003, Nadine Carel and Manuel Rubio have been the artistic directors of Maison Causse and have added their own unique touch, redesigning the visual identity of the company. In 2001 they received the prestigious ANDAM (National Association for the Development of Fashion Art), in charge by Pierre Bergé, for their lovely glove designs, and in 2004 the "Imprint of the Year" for Talents in Luxury and Creative Design. And most recently in 2012, Causse was recognized by UNESCO and the French Ministry of Culture and Communication as one of the few remaining businesses of knowledge about the delicate and detailed craft of glove making.
